International Women’s Day 2018

ArabWIC Kuwait in a collaboration with 10 different associations and partnerships organized the International Women’s Day Convention and Hackathon. The event was led by Dr. Zainab AlMeraj and Dr. Fatima Boujarwah and was under the sponsorship of two official sponsors Gulf Bank and Elevation Burger.

It included two panel sessions, one that discussed the issue of women in tech field and workplaces and the other about the tech ecosystem and existing opportunities. The 12-hour hackathon for social good was part of this event and it highlighted three main themes and issues: Domestic violence awareness, accessibility for people with disabilities and startups and government procedures.

The local NGO organizations pitched their problem to the community and people and students from several backgrounds attended, joined teams and delivered prototypes in the hackathon. The was very successful and led to further collaborations and the growth of women in tech network.
