2017 ArabWIC 5TH Annual International Conference on Arab Women in computing

The goal of the 2017 ArabWIC 5th Annual International conference on Arab Women in Computing is to inspire, support and celebrate women in computing in the Arab world and create links with the global tech ecosystem. More than five hundred international and regional women and men from all technology sectors (academics, students, professionals, and entrepreneurs) are expected to participate making this the largest conference on women in tech in the Arab World.

This conference will explore the state of the art of computing/technology, the latest innovations and trends, entrepreneurship and the role of women in tech start-ups and of women VC’s. Women’s enrollment in computer science courses, their involvement in industry and academia, gender gaps, positive trends as well as barriers in the field will all be examined. The conference will feature renowned technical researchers, keynote talks, interactive technical workshops, hackathons, mentoring sessions, networking, career coaching for all levels, a career fair featuring top tech companies, and a gala to celebrate women in technology. The conference will end with a three days tour of Lebanon which will be scheduled from August 13 -16, 2017.

NYUAD Women in Computing in the Arab World Conference 2015

This conference explores our preliminary research findings focusing on representations, the opportunities as well as the diverse challenges facing women in computing in the Arab world. Prominent regional and international women in computer science discuss research and innovation in computing, opportunities for collaboration throughout the region and world, women enrollment in computer science, entrepreneurship, the role of women in tech start-ups, Women VC’s, promotion, gender gap, and positive trends as well as difficulties in the field.

NYUAD Women in Computing in the Arab World Conference 2013

As a follow-up to the inaugural workshop held in March 2012, this convening aims to design and plan a study on women in computing in the Arab world, which will contribute to the national and international debates on the gender’s enrollment in computer science, and more importantly, identify the diverse and important challenges facing women in the field of computing across the region. Prominent regional and international women in computer science, the social sciences, and the humanities discuss the research methodology, theoretical framework, and issues of representations, entrepreneurship, and positive trends as well as difficulties in the IT fields in the Arab world.
